Hello Superstar Mom!
If we have not met, my name is Ava Clark. I am a personal coach and a clinical counsellor. I help Superstar Moms of ADHD and High Needs kids to truly prioritize themselves, calm their nervous system, get their energy back, and have more fun with their kids.

Not only do I have over 15 years of professional experience working with moms and children, but I have very personal experiences as a mother of an awesome, sweet and smart young boy with ADHD, dyslexia and dysgraphia.
I want to share with you my personal story, which is my motivation and reason for the passion I have for helping other moms experiencing burnout, especially those with ADHD/High needs kids.… The photo below is basically me feeling very burnt out but trying to smile with my sweet little baby by my side. You see.. about 9 years ago I was struggling with the worst mom burnout of my life.

When my son was about a year and a half I was going through a stressful time at work, not sleeping well (because my son has never slept well) and trying to start a side business with a health company. I quickly burnt out and to the point where physically I was completely drained. I went skiing and could physically not function. I could barely get out of bed and had no energy at all. That is why my doctor had me go off work for 3 months...
I felt so defeated and incompetent. I even brought my 1.5 year old baby to daycare every day so that I could get some rest. It was one of the lowest points in my life. I was so burnt out and stressed that even the smallest things would set me off. This wasn’t like me at all.

I knew something had to change, but I didn’t know how to get there.
​
My baby was a ‘more than typically active’ baby- he didn’t sleep well either and was very busy, so there was that too. I didn’t have family around to help and I had no idea what was happening to me….
I felt like I was a shell of myself.
Flash Forward….

I was able to heal through major burnout within 3 months. I had to learn how to take care of myself and balance work, taking care of my son and reducing my stress. At the time I was in survival mode just trying to feel better and not realizing exactly what steps I had taken to get there; but I have maintained my energy and wellness using these strategies and have staved off burnout for the last 9 years!! I have not had a single relapse and am proud to say that I feel like I finally unlocked the secrets to better balance!
It wasn’t always easy. We moved to another town 18hrs away that summer, I relocated in my work with community mental health, and bought a house a year later, so moved again! Life always seems to throw you curve balls but somehow, I did it with enough energy and stamina to make it through with flying colours.
My son was only 2 and a VERY busy kid with lots of meltdowns. He was only diagnosed with ADHD, Dyslexia and Dysgraphia at age 9. That is a story for another day, but a mamma has instincts and its important to trust yours. Its even more difficult to maintain your own wellness when your child also has high needs.
As the years progressed, I have perfected the skills, resources and strategies that have helped me and my clients stay away from burnout and feel balanced in my life. I have an awesome relationship with my son. I have learned skills to be compassionate and patient with him, despite it being very challenging at times! I have figured out how to have fun, ditch the mom guilt, be more present and take time for myself. I let go of perfection but still manage to stay organized! My sleep is better lately than it ever has been. I am happy, content and feel balanced. I’m not saying life is perfect- but honestly- I feel pretty blessed most days because I really can’t complain, despite challenges that come my way too.
What I realized is that I have discovered something really special…

So a couple years ago, I started dreaming of helping moms of ADHD children who were struggling with burnout, in a different way from just my 1-1 counselling. I became a coach and put all my years of knowledge and experience into an amazing life changing program.

That moment I realized I had my energy back!
As I continued pushing my baby on that swing under the pear tree, and his laughter, the sunlight, the energy inside of me just beaming, made me well up with tears of joy….
It was such an amazing, exhilarating, and enlivening feeling.

I had finally conquered my nervous system, I had finally gotten to a place of peace, and I had my energy back. It felt so amazing.
​
I could stay in that moment forever just pushing my baby on the swing, without feeling the overwhelm, feeling the need to lay down or feeling like I just cant be the kind of mom I want to be.
I remember those days were tough, my baby never slept well and before this I had been off work on medical leave as the severe burnout I had experienced caused everything to come to a crashing halt.
A few months before this, I was a mess. I was exhausted beyond what I had ever experienced before, I was irritable, I felt like the worst mom too because I could barely imagine the thought of taking care of my baby, let alone take care of myself.

I brought my son to daycare everyday because I just didn’t have the energy to be there for him like I wanted to. This was so far from the mother that I knew I really was deep down, and who I could be if I wasn’t so deeply burnt out.
​
The truth is, I had help along the way. I didn’t figure this out all on my own, but I did learn some very key strategies for beating burnout, and getting back to a place of feeling like the superstar mom I really am.
You see, I really had to look back and piece it all together, what that support looked like, what specific exercises I had done to get to that point of finally conquering my burnout. Since then I have been implementing these strategies in my routine to keep my nervous system healthy, stay energized, and to prioritize my own self care to be the superstar mom that I am today parenting my own son with ADHD.
